    Good for Soldering Arduino Shields

We do a fair amount of soldering on small PCBs, especially Arduino shields, and now that I'm older, that kind of fine soldering wouldn't be possible without some kind of magnification. The amount of magnification this unit can achieve from a good working distance is very helpful, as you do need room to get the soldering iron, solder (and your hands) between the lens and the PCB. The unit has a bright screen, and even a way to connect to computer monitor, so there are good viewing options for multiple project types. We found the included screen was fine, but can imagine a larger screen might be good in teaching or lab environments. The metal arm is very solid and stable, which stays put once you adjust it, which is certainly a plus. We highly recommend this unit for precise soldering, especially PCBs.

Amazing image quality, the hardware needs improvement

So far, this microscope is working great for me. I’m impressed with the image quality and there’s no lag in what you see on video vs what you’re doing. I particularly like the fact that the armature allows you to position the scope wherever you want on your workspace. However, the arm needs work and it feels a bit flimsy for the weight of the scope and screen. There were a few instances where it was hard for me to tighten and position the arm to be stable. As long as I don’t cantilever the arm too far, it seems to be holding steady. If you’re looking for a good quality microscope, this is a good one to get. I might try to upgrade the armature to a more sturdy articulating arm and see if that works better for me. So far it’s working fine for now.

You get what you pay for (not much)

The quality of the images produced was fine for my purposes, digitizing photographic slides and various size negatives on a light table, cheaper than buying DSLR, macro lens, tripod. But the flexible arm is too shaky so that trying to focus is a challenge. Having a screen rather unnecessary as I wanted to use it hooked up to a computer anyway. What made me return it was that it kept randomly shutting off in the middle of using it. And when I turned it back on I would have to set it up again. Overall just unreliable and low quality - if you want quality you have to pay for it and get something else from another company.

    Surprisingly Clear & Bright

Thank you for this Digital 'Microscope'! A simple straight forward setup. I did have to refer to the instructions, to see what threads to what! You can follow along with the pictures though! Other than that, it is very simple, and the device does not really need any instructions to use. A good fairly sturdy, nice and stiff arm, so it stays where it is put. It can be a nice little distance from the subject and still get a good picture, so quite handy for not getting in the way too much. There is an additional zoom using the button on the screen. It really is clear, can really see that terrible soldering job lol!! The only downside is the ring light. I found it would not get a good fit and would slip or fall off. Overall though, good, what a great picture! Thanks again!

I've reviewed a half-dozen similar cameras, and this is my favorite kit.

This is a nice magnifier! I've evaluated a few of these recently, and this is my favorite. It's got an incredible working distance (I can focus on the floor -- about 3-4 feet). And the picture quality is quite nice. I don't like that to change the light settings, you have to go into the menu, make the change, and then exit the menu to see the effects. But other than that, I've got no complaints. The only thing that would make this better is either wifi, or an HDMI outlet. Great camera for the price. Bonus: It comes with an articulating arm! This arm is sturdy and doesn't shake much. really happy with this.

    Great for soldering work

Needed something to do SMT soldering work, and it works very well. The mount works on a table; just be careful about vibrations. I really like that it also includes a remote to help manage vibrations on the unit itself when extended out.

22x at 10cm distance. No real focus, just zoom/focus

This microscope is more of an assembly microscope, with up to 22x zoom (1cm ruler fills screen side to side, screen is 22cm wide) with the object 10cm away from lens. There is only one twist control, so the zoom and focus are one and the same. Your zoom level, therefore is determined by how far from the lens the object is. The microscope can be used as a computer connected webcam, recorded to the computer or even used in zoom or obs. The arm is very stiff and doesn’t bounce much, so it fits the usage scenario very well. It’s not easily adjusted but once adjusted it stays where you put it. The remote helps to avoid causing movement caused by pressing buttons when taking photos or videos. There is no hdmi or other video output, just webcam output. It claims 12mp photos but the optics aren’t up to the task. Better than 1080p, but not by a ton. It has a built in light and another ring light is included - additional light is nice, and it’s bright. Overall it’s an ok microscope. It won’t replace my trinocular on the workbench with a real zoom and separate focus, not to mention 47x zoom, but will complement it nicely.

    Failure of a product

Don't waste your time or money! The arm mount is terrible to use very hard to get into position the light that is to attach to the unit is pressure fit and will not stay attached I also had issues getting this unit too stay in focus. Do yourself a favor and go with a better brand don't be cheap if you need this for real work.

Excellent way to view up close!

The screen is big and shows good detail. Set up is easy peasy! Makes working on many projects so much easier! Excellent customer service! Fun to play with and educate kids! Excellent value!

Well build and very good image quality

The amount of magnification this is able to achieve from a decent working distance is very impressive. They also didn't skimp on this package. In addition to the microscope itself, which is integrated into a large bright screen, they include a very nice and stable arm that is made entirely out of metal, an auxilary ring light, and a remote control. This is great for doing small work where you'd normally wear magnifying glasses, but this is much easier on your eyes and allows for recording and picture taking with the integrated SD card. If you need to do fine work, like modeling or soldering, I highly recommend this unit.
