- marmar992024-05-08I hope the girls like them - they seem nice.
These are a nice size for me to use in my nesting boxes. I received 6 pads in my 1 order. There was a little shedding of the 'grass' and a bit of a weird smell. The shedding shouldn't really matter unless you are opening these in the house, like I did. As for the smell, I plan to let these air-out for a day or two before use. I have used other nesting pads, ones made of a fine straw-like material adhered to brown paper and they are nice but don't really last very long for the price. These are able to be cleaned and reused, - I included a picture of the reverse of the pad. It is kind of a rubbery material that is water repellent. I think it depends on how deeply the chickens 'nest in' to the pads and how much 'dirt' they get on them, whether or not they clean up well enough for me, so remains to be seen at this point.

These nesting box pads fit well in a 12" x 12" nesting box. Some of my boxes were 11" x 11" so I had no problem cutting the pads down to fit. When the hen gets poop on the pads, I just shake them out and put them back in the nesting box. If the poop is stuck in the grass, I easily wash out the pad with a water hose and leave it in the sun to dry. While it is drying, I replace the pad with a different one that is dry. When they first arrived, there was some expected loose grass. You will need to shake them out well before placing them in the coop. I like it that I don't have to worry about fine straw stuck to the bloom on the eggs anymore as in the past.

These are great for layers. Easy to clean....don't need to replace. Great value for the money. Might be hard for those "princess" layers. I have a few that refused to lay on these....but overall work for most....and again, super easy to clean.

These are 1' x1' artificial grass squares, that are perfect for nesting boxes. We've used similar ones for a walkway, over rocks for our other pets. To clean, we spray them with a hose and let the sun dry them. It works great. Chickens like to have a cozy place to lay.

These are the perfect size for our nest boxes. But, the hens don't seem to love them. I have 2 boxes with a different style of liner that they constantly lay in and they seem to avoid these. That said, these are thick, very well made and good quality. There is no fraying around the edges, no shedding. We made a baby chick ramp and needed some traction on it so my husband had the idea to use these. He cut one in half and screwed it down on the ramp and they were running up and down it in minutes without slipping, so we did find a good use for them even though my hens are picky girls and don't prefer them.

I purchased these box pads for my chickens nesting boxes. I like the size because it fits perfectly on the bottom. The material is soft and durable. It gives my chickens comfort while laying their eggs. They are simple and quick to clean and reuse again. The quality and quantity is outstanding for the price.

These are nice little squares of artificial grass, that are very soft! They have one hole in the middle for drainage, or air circulation, I’m not sure. And they cushion the eggs in the nestbox nicely, and look really nice in there! But the shedding! I shook them out, scrubbed them under the hose, and still green plastic ‘grass’ pieces were everywhere. I’m kind of afraid my hens will eat it, because they peck at, and eat everything! So ultimately I decided not to put them in the nest boxes. I will use them under my planters or something. Maybe I just got a bad batch? Back to straw.

These fit great in the roost I have. They smell amazing and are quite soft. Our hens have taken a liking to them.
- Desert Dwellers2024-05-03Perfect nesting pads for our dove shelter
Ordered these nesting pads to line the bottom of our dove house shelter. The doves seem to prefer these over their shoddily constructed nests of twigs! We add some dried leaves and aspen wood shavings on top and they're happy to snuggle up inside to hatch their clutch.
