Great for Heating / Bending Plastic

Lightweight Heat Gun. Like that it locks on without having to hold the trigger consistently. Many different attachments included, excellent for handling multiple projects. Attachments are loose fitting and often fall off. Heat Gun requires a larger Dewalt battery for constant power on High setting – operates on smaller Dewalt battery on Low but cuts out when moved to High setting. Overall a good product, appears to be a very good product for DIYers but not powerful enough to sustain for commercial use.

A really nice cordless heat gun. what a luxury!

I've used this quite a bit since i ordered it a couple weeks ago and i love it. It might be my favorite thing I've reviewed in a while, and that's saying something because I've been really lucky with things I've ordered turning out great recently. So, if you have frequent use for a heat gun – maybe it's for speeding up drying of coatings/adhesives, or using shrink wrap and other heat shrink materials, or as a shortcut to the refinishing process – having a cordless one is wonderful. It's as though literally none of the things i need a heat gun for are ever near an outlet. This gun has all the features I'd ever want, with intuitive & easy digital control of airspeed and temperature and the three heat gun accessory nozzles i prefer (reducer for detail work, reflector for heat shrink tubing, and fan spreader). Granted, anything generating heat is sure to be a power hog...I know I'll want to get a backup dewalt-style battery pack to go with the surprisingly-high-quality Mellif i already have (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0CW1HW1KQ). But this is a beauty...lightweight, good safety protection (but not too inconvenient - just enough that no one's EVER gonna turn it on by mistake). Great product!

Convenient, easy to use, not as hot

This heat gun is easy to use and much more convenient than running a cord for my old plug-in gun. The display is clear and buttons are easy to use. It has some quick preset temps, or you can manually adjust both temp and fan speed. The display is green during "preheat" and red when it's at temp. To turn it on, you depress the ambidextrous safety (forward/reverse switch on other tools) and pull the trigger. You can then let go and it will stay running. To release, you hit the safety again (not the trigger). That took some learning, and I'd rather have the trigger release the lock, but it works. I tried it out on some heat shrink tubing. Even at max temp I felt like it barely shrunk the tubing. It got it about 90% of the way done after quite some time, but I ended up with a torch to get that last little bit. The heat shrink may have been a bit oversized in the end.

    Nice portable heat gun

The heat gun produces adequate heat, not as hot as a heavy duty electric heat gun but enough for most projects. It works great for heat shrinking electrical connections. The digital display is a nice feature as is the adjustable temperature range. My 20 volt Dewalt battery clips on nicely and the 5ah battery lasted a long time, I didn’t keep track of time but I did a lot of heat shrink connections and removed some caulk with one battery. The instructions were useless since it was for a heat gun that has a high low switch without a LED display rather than this one. Overall a good heat gun at a fraction of the cost of an actual Dewalt heat gun especially since I have a few batteries already.

    I had NO idea!

I was absolutely floored when I saw this come up. I have used heat guns for many years. I have also used 20v DeWalt products since they began. So, I was surprised to see that this thing even existed. The idea of having a portable heat gun just flooded my thoughts with many new ideas for projects around the house and at work. It arrive in a nice box and included several directional tips. The only thing you need to make this work is a 20v battery and your hands. I quickly snapped a battery onto it and tried to melt a shrink-tubed butt-connector. As you can see in my video, it made short work out of it. Something to keep in mind is that it takes a few seconds to get heated up to full temp so the actual melt time is much less than what the video showed. It looks really sharp and fits in well with it's DeWalt cousins in my tool room. It feels very well-made and durable. It is light weight. It has 2 temperature selctions, LOW, and HIGH. I just had no idea that these existed or I would have already had one!

    Hot and reliable

I use this gun to shrink fit electrical connections. The heat output is consistent with Dewalt products - no worries about safety beyond usual common sense guidelines. Just remember this is a bare tool. You'll need a Dewalt or compatible battery, minimum 4 amps for any decent runtime.

Meh... lightweight and portable, but not very powerful

So, the good, it fit the OEM battery without issue and is easy to operate. It's really lightweight and not having a cord is very useful. The bad, even at high speed it has wimpy power and heat... it works, it just takes longer than my corded heat gun. The limited heat settings are also pretty thin (high and low). I REALLY wanted to love this, to replace my heavy, powerful, corded, heat gun. Maybe that was too much to expect. If you are just using this for tubing and the like, it's probably fine, but it's not going to do much for bending PVC pipe, or cleaning paint and such.

    Convenient without a cord!

I've only ever used plugin heat guns before. This is so much more convenient and easy to maneuver though! I've been using it so far with wood-burning pens (chemical reaction) and I'm looking forward to stripping the old, heavily painted doors in our home to bring them back to their original luster. It works well with my existing Dewalt batteries. The temperature is not as hot as a plugin one, but I may experiment with different voltage Dewalt batteries to see if that makes any difference, as it seemed to work better with my newer batteries than my older one.

Game changer. Advertised correctly, the images are true.

This Cordless Heat Gun works great with my aftermarket Dewalt 20V batteries. It's very convenient, but just remember to supply your own battery. Just install charger battery, press trigger and heat. Heats up fast enough, faster than I thought it would, just 1 or 2 sec slower than a reg 120v heat gun. Overall, very satisfied with the performance.

    Dewalt compatible

It works. I used it with a 2 ah battery for about 5 mins and it does what it is designed to do. It does use up the battery as fast as you would expect(very quickly). The digital display shows the temp in Celcius, it claims max temp of 550 celcius which translates to 1022 fahrenheit. It has a couple different settings which are lower. Overall, I think its a decent tool. About half the price of the Dewalt it is inspired by... Time will tell if it holds up, I probably wouldn't rely on it for a commercial purpose, but occasional usage should be just fine.
