This is a super fun pop-up game that my grandkids absolutely love! Lots and lots of giggling and laughs! The set comes with a circular game board, 10 baby dinosaurs, one adult (rolling) dinosaur, two nets and a magnetic fishing pole. It requires three AA batteries that are not included. To set up the game, you first need to insert three AA batteries. You then place a small (adorable) dinosaur on top of each of the circles on top and press them down until they all click. Repeat for all the other dinosaurs. This can get a little finicky if one of the circles happens to be atop a circle that is already triggered to pop up. You may need to rotate the outer ring to adjust it until the circle is no longer triggered to pop. You can then place the adult dinosaur in the middle. It has nothing to do with the game play, but it does look cute sitting there. Then, be prepared to catch dinosaurs with the nets and turn on the switch. POP! It makes the kids jump and squeal every time the dinosaurs pop up, and it is tricky and fun to try to catch them! As a bonus, kids can later remove the adult dinosaur to play with it by pushing it to roll across a table or floor, and by pretending it is the mommy or daddy dinosaur to all of the baby dinosaurs. One of the fun features of this playset is that it also has two other game options: Fishing and Tic-Tac-Toe. For fishing, set the little dinosaurs on top of the circles--but DON'T press them down to trigger them for popping up. Simply turn on the switch and let them go around in the circle while trying to pick them up/"catch them" with the included magnetic fishing pole. Each of the little dinosaurs has a magnetized head, for easy picking-up. My one complaint with this playing feature is that this set only comes with ONE fishing pole. Boo! For the Tic-Tac-Toe, simply turn the game upside-down and the crisscross playing board is imprinted on the underside. Use the little dinosaurs to play the game with a friend. This is cute, but not as easy to place the dinosaurs into the squares because they slip around a lot. Some magnetization here would be helpful, although it's possible this extra magnetic feature could interfere with the popping feature on the main side of the game board. While we absolutely love the popping game and will continue to have lots of fun with it, I'm giving the overall set four stars because it didn't come with any instructions or game-play rules whatsoever. I guess we are just supposed to make it up as we go! It's not hard to come up with your own rules, of course, but I think it might be nice to have some instructions with various different ways of play included. The other reason I am only giving it four stars is because it only came with one fishing pole. It seems logical to at least include two so kids can play with a family member or friend. Overall, I do recommend this cute and fun playset!
