This leather chess set is very nice to play with! The leather is super soft to the touch and the pieces glide along the board easily. They fit snuggly into the case when you aren't using them and fold up to fit in a bookshelf! I am very happy with my order and would absolutely recommend this set!

This thing is awesome. The leather top looks nice, the build quality seems good, and the board folds into a backgammon-style suitcase without a handle. I can't tell how the different leather types are put together on the top, but they don't pick off easily -- as long as you don't have a fidget picker for a friend I think this will last a long time. The pieces are set into rather dense foam inside the case, so they don't move around at all when transporting. You have to press pretty hard to get the pieces set into the foam (maybe like 10 lbs of force), and they take a second to come out. The organization fanatics out there will appreciate that black and white have their own place, though I'd probably rather just throw them all in the case. I love the magnetic functionality. LOVE IT! It's just the right strength to hold the pieces in place (even upside down), but not so strong that moving pieces is a chore. This also came with a cute set of "how to play chess" instructions. I really like the idea of a short primer for folks who don't know how to play.

The only fault I could really find in this is that there was something a bit sticky that I felt in some very small parts of the edges of the interior, likely some type of glue used in the manufacture. But it's such a minor thing that it barely merits mention; the chess set itself is pretty nice, for as standard as the styling is. The pieces are good quality, and the case/board is a nice leather with magnets to keep the pieces in place during play (helpful, if you find yourself needing to move the board to make room for food or something). The only lackluster inclusion is the rules, which are extremely basic; if you want to learn more about the depth of the game, you'll have to find yourself a separate source. Thumbs up, all in all.

This has everything to make it fancy and high quality. The top layer of the board is made of leather. The pieces have a very strong magnetic connection to the board. The board can be turned upside down and the pieces will not move. This is very helpful when the board gets bumped, etc so the pieces don't move. The board folds in half and inside is molded spots for each individual piece so they stay nice. I love this chess board and recommend it to others.

This is very high quality made. The pieces are very nice and have a good, heavy feel in your hand. The board is well made and does not show any signs of wear and tear from use. The cubbyholes that they stay in for travel, it holds perfectly, and all pieces are nice and secure when you open it back up. The only thing that would maybe make it better is if it had a handle.

Nice quality and well made. The foam in the storage section doesn't hold some of the pieces well, or they fit too tight. Also, the magnetic top isn't as strong as they make it out to be. Not a big deal for me, I won't be using it in a car. Overall I'm happy with this set, now to find someone that plays.

This is a well loved chess board in our house. It feels VERY high end, very expensive. The board is leather, which is breathtakingly beautiful. Nice wooden pieces and they are all magnetic. From the photo you can see that we are playing on a hill. This set will last you a lifetime and we all really enjoy it.

Easy to play and easy to carry, look great, great design and great quality and material, reasonable price.
